Surface - Catalyzed Recombination into Excited Electronic , Vibrational , Rotational , and Kinetic Energy States : a Review

چکیده
OH, N2, H2, and trans la t Laboratory experiments in which recombined CO, C02, D20, and 02 molecules desorb from surfaces in excited internal ional states are briefly reviewed. Unequilibrated distributions predominate from the principally catalytic-metal substrates so far investigated. and in some cases less than, wall-thermal; the velocity distributions generally vary with emission angle, with non-Lambertian particle fluxes. The excitation state populations are found to depend on surface impurities, in an as yet unexplained way. Mean kinetic energies have been observed up to -3x,

The report presents results of development of an accurate, physics-based model of vibrational androtational energy transfer in three-dimensional collisions of rotating diatomic molecules, applicable over awide range of collision energies and vibrational / rotational quantum numbers, and results of detailedkinetic modeling studies of state-to-state molecular energy transfer processes...
متن کاملOn the Spectroscopically Determined Potential Energy Surfaces for the Electronic Ground States of NO2 and H2O
Previous spectroscopically determined potentials for both H216O and NO2 are discussed. It is shown that a recent H216O potential energy surface due to D. Xie and G. Yan (1996. Chem. Phys. Lett. 248, 409), which was determined by fits to vibrational term values alone and was claimed to be more accurate than other published spectroscopically determined potentials for this system, actually gives u...
متن کاملTheoretical study on electronic states of carbon monofluoride and on the predissociation of the lower lying states
Adiabatic potential energy curves of X P , 12 doublet excited electronic states of CF and the ground state of CF have been determined by MRDCI ~multi reference single and double excitations configuration interaction! calculations. The potentials of the excited electronic states are complicated by interactions with repulsive states as well as by valence–Rydberg interactions. Potential energy cur...
متن کاملExperimental investigation of ultracold atom-molecule collisions.
Ultracold collisions between Cs atoms and Cs2 dimers in the electronic ground state are observed in an optically trapped gas of atoms and molecules. The Cs2 molecules are formed in the triplet ground state by cw photoassociation through the outer well of the 0-(g) (P3/2) excited electronic state. Inelastic atom-molecule collisions converting internal excitation into kinetic energy lead to a los...
متن کاملPhotodissociation of N2O: energy partitioning.
The energy partitioning in the UV photodissociation of N(2)O is investigated by means of quantum mechanical wave packet and classical trajectory calculations using recently calculated potential energy surfaces. Vibrational excitation of N(2) is weak at the onset of the absorption spectrum, but becomes stronger with increasing photon energy. Since the NNO equilibrium angles in the ground and the...
